Classical, elegant architecture characterises both the hotel’s interior and the exterior. The hotel has won awards for its excellent design, and in 1995 it became the first hotel in the country to be proposed as a listed building. Its location near three multi-storey car parks with a total of 2,500 spaces, the railway station, airport bus, the bus station, the planned Bergen Light Rail and the Grieg Hall means that the hotel is very accessible, and it is a mere five minutes’ walk to Torgalmenningen Square.

Close to public transport

There's hardly a hotel in Bergen that's better accessible. Be kind to the environment and use the available public transport. Grand Terminus is a certified environmentally friendly hotel.

Rail

The hotel is located in a quiet and distinguished neighbourhood adjacent to the railway station. If you arrive by train, you can practically roll your suitcase straight to the reception. Norwegian Railways (NSB) has a lot of good offers, and all conference guests at Grand Terminus get at least 20% discount on railway tickets. Visit www.nsb.no

Airport shuttle

The first stop in the town centre is 200 meters from the hotel. Getting back to the airport is also fast and easy, as the shuttle's last stop - the bus terminal, is at the same walking distance. The shuttle leaves every 15 or 30 minutes, depending on time of day. Visit www.tide.no . It's cheap to fly to Bergen - Det er rimelig å fly til Bergen - visit for example www.norwegian.no and www.sasbraathens.no

All express buses arrive and depart at the bus terminal. A covered walkway of 200 meters away.

Bus terminal

Busses for all directions, local, regional, and national, arrive and depart from the bus terminal, a covered walkway of about 200 meters from the hotel.

Parking - more than 3000 spaces

The hotel has 14 indoor parking spaces (temporarily closed). If it's full, parking is available in the Jæger garage (24 h), 50 meters from the reception. Reasonable prices - 250 spaces. Bygarasjen parking garage is also open 24 hours, and the walk from the garage, through the railway station to the reception (250 meters) is mostly covered. There are 2.500 spaces in this garage. The new Grieg park below the Grieg Hall is also nearby (about 300 meters), and has 450 spaces.

Parking tour bus

The official parking space for tour buses is only 400 meters away, at Nygårdstangen. There's also a suitable parking space, officially marked a waiting place for buses for a maximum of two ours, on the street outside.

Express boats

The Strandkai terminal, close to the Fish Market, is only 700 meters away. The express boats to Stavanger, Haugesund, Stord and northbound, all land here. Visit www.tide.no

Restaurants nearby

You find everything you need under one roof when visiting Grand Hotel Terminus. The hotel has its own unique Brasserie, and a whisky bar with a tasty and reasonably priced menu. If you still want to hit the town to try something different, we can recommend two restaurants in the vicinity: Bølgen and Moi Lysverket have great locations by Byparken Park and the museum quarter, with galleries showing, among other things, some of Munch's finest works. In the charming pedestrian street "Marken", about 100 meters from the hotel, you'll find the Vietnamese restaurant "Bambus", which is known for it's outstanding food, according to newspaper reviews. We also recommend Altona Wine Bar and restaurant at our sister hotel Augustin, which is the only holder of the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence in Bergen. We also have free tickets to night clubs and we can find other good restaurants for you, if you wish.

Shopping without the rain

You can walk straight across the street and across a covered walkway, right into the biggest shopping mall in Bergen town centre.

- Very practical if you have some Christmas shipping to do and the weather isn't cooperating, and efficient if you only have an hour break from a conference at Grand Hotel Terminus.

Pedestrian street Marken

The real shopping experience starts in the pedestrian area called Marken, that can be found 100 meters from the hotel entrance. Stroll through historical streets with small wooden houses, typical for picturesque Bergen. Here you find a vast selection of small shops, offering high quality. Marken leads up to Torgalmenning, the heart of Bergen, where you find anything your heart desires in a relatively compact area.

Museum square, the town park with Lungegårsdvann pond and Bølgen og Moi

On the walk back to the hotel, take the route through Byparken, the central park. Here you can walk along the museum square with Bergen Art Hall, The Stenersen Collection and Rasmus Meyers Collections. Here you'll find some of Munch's finest works. Drop by Bølgen og Mois Bar and Brasserie in Bergen Art Museum, that have tables with views of the pond and pleasant outdoor dining on nice days.
